Some of our members get busy during the off-season, improving their skills, researching, training…

Stan is a firm favourite with the public at events! His talks on various aspects of woodworking are incredibly informative as he keeps up an interesting (and often humourous!) monologue whilst demonstrating various tools. The best thing is that he researches everything in great detail and then goes on to make his own tools to use in camp.

Here are just a couple of examples of what he’s getting up to over the winter. The bench is a 4-foot oak bench which might become a workbench, but he’s not sure yet! The box is the only style of casket he has not tried so far – 8 compound mitres on slightly-twisted oak.

We’re sure there’ll be more photos of new items to come. Once Stan starts his woodwork there’s no stopping him…!
