Trebuchet
The Trebuchet was an awesome medieval siege engine used in siege situations to help smash down the walls of castles by hurling huge 100KG stone balls over a distance of 200 metres. They were also used as a form of early germ warfare for throwing the bodies of dead men or animals over the walls of a besieged town or castle to spread disease. Occasionally they were also used to return unfortunate messengers which had been caught by the opposing side!
The Medieval SiegeSociety owns the only portable trebuchet of its kind in the UK. It can be demonstrated in displays or used during battle recreations. It is an exciting optional extra and is available at an additional cost.
