Skills Sharing Weekend & AGM

The return of our famous MSS Skills Sharing weekend. A fantastic opportunity for MSS members to learn new crafts & skills, listen to presentations & seminars from historians and researchers and catch up with members before the season starts. Full programme to be published shortly, but all included in the cost of your MSS membership fee! The AGM will be on the sunday afternoon. Come and have your say in the running of YOUR society.

Bodiam Castle- Spring Clout Shoot 2012
|

The Medieval Siege Society's Spring Clout shoot for Longbows and medieval Crossbows takes place adjacent to Bodiam Castle on Sunday 4th March 2012.
Registration is at 9:30am, Sighters will be at 10.30 a.m. and the shoot is expected to finish at about 4.30pm. Choose between three clouts with a novelty theme to suit all abilities and bow strengths at 80, 110 and 150 paces, plus a junior clout at about 40 paces for smaller competitors.
Prizes for highest scoring will be awarded according to entry. (These scores will count towards our archer of the year award)
The entry fee will be £6 for adults and £3 for under 18s. Non-MSS members welcome. Refreshments will be available.
Since we don’t know what the weather will be like, medieval and modern dress are equally welcome.
Watch out for the MSS clout signs on the gateway as you drive East toward Bodiam Castle from the A21, where it is signposted near Hurst Green.

Regional Men at Arms & Archery Training (Northants)

| A day of training for those in the Northants and surrounding areas but all welcome! It will be combat focussed but there will also be opportunities for field & combat archery - including skirmishing in the nine acres of private woodland. Fighting Archers most welcome - especially those looking to develop a skirmish/scout type role!
When: 11am start, finish when it gets dark and then possibly a pint at the local pub!
Where: Mill Hill Naseby NN6 6BS
Directions: From A14 Junction 1: Take A5199 South. Take Cold Ashby Road Left (East) towards Naseby) At Naseby, take left into Church Street From the village of Naseby, locate the Fitzgerald Arms pub opposite the Church (spire is visible). Then take the road North towards Sibbertoft till the road forks Take the right fork and follow over the A14

Battlefield Walk: The 1460 Battle of Northampton
|
|
The Society will be taking part in a guided tour of the site of the 1460 Battle of Northampton. Guided by a historical expert from the Northampton Battlefield Society we will examine the locations of this pivotal moment in English history - where a King was captured and the country changed overnight. The site is under threat from local development and it is hoped this will draw awareness to the plight of this important historical site.

English Heritage Festival of History

MAJOR event at English Heritage's spectacular Festival of History! The Society will be once more joining forces with the Wars of the Roses Federation to stage a spectacular re-enactment of the Battle of Stoke Field.
